Executive Protection — Massachusetts

Executive Protection Services Across Massachusetts
Executive Protection is the umbrella discipline behind everything Hub does to shield a principal from physical, reputational, and situational risk — at the office, at home, in transit, and at public appearances. It is not a single service but a coordinated program built from advance planning, trained agents, and clear reporting. Hub provides executive protection in Boston and across Massachusetts, for principals who live, work or travel here.
Hub Security and Investigative Group provides Executive Protection throughout Massachusetts, backed by trained investigators and protective agents, clear communication with your office or household staff, and a plan built around your specific risk profile — not a generic package. Below, we break down how that program adapts to a corporate leadership team, a private residence, business travel, the workplace itself, and situations that call for an armed or low-profile posture.

- ✓24/7 on-call availability for time-sensitive or short-notice coverage

Corporate Executive Protection
Corporate Executive Protection builds a protective program around a company’s leadership team, covering the office, the daily commute, business travel, and public appearances tied directly to the organization. This is the most common engagement Hub runs for Massachusetts companies: a named executive or small group of leaders who need discreet, professional coverage without disrupting how they actually run their business.
We start by mapping the executive’s real schedule — board meetings, investor days, shareholder events, site visits — and build Post Orders around those recurring touchpoints rather than a one-size-fits-all template. Agents are trained in defensive driving, surveillance detection, First Aid and CPR, and our account managers stay in direct contact with the executive’s assistant or corporate security office so coverage adjusts as the calendar changes.
Residential Executive Protection
Residential Executive Protection places fixed protective coverage at a principal’s home, including perimeter monitoring, visitor and delivery screening, and coordination with any household staff already on site. For families facing an elevated or specific threat, we also provide overnight and weekend coverage, secure vehicle staging, and a documented response plan for the residence itself.
Because a home is a different environment than an office or a venue, our residential teams are briefed on the household’s routine, the family’s preferences for visibility, and any existing alarm or camera systems, so our agents work alongside your home’s security rather than creating a redundant, conflicting layer.
Executive Travel Security
Executive Travel Security focuses protection on a principal’s travel within Massachusetts: arrivals at Logan Airport or other airports in the state, hotel stays, and meetings in cities across Massachusetts, including site surveys of destinations before a principal arrives. Our advance team maps ingress and egress points, identifies the nearest trauma center, and checks the venue or hotel’s own security ahead of a visit.
On the ground, this means secure transit between the airport, hotel, and meeting locations, real-time monitoring of local conditions, and a pre-set communication plan so your office always knows the principal’s status. Whether it’s a single meeting in Boston or several stops across the state, the advance work is what keeps travel protection from becoming reactive.
Workplace Executive Protection
Workplace Executive Protection focuses on an executive’s on-site work environment — office access control, screening of visitors, and a clear response plan for workplace-specific threats. This overlaps closely with our broader workplace violence prevention work: corporate restructuring, involuntary terminations, and sensitive labor disputes can all create real risk for the leaders who have to deliver difficult news in person.
In those situations, we provide discreet, armed or plainclothes protection during high-risk employee separations, along with practical lobby and floor-access controls so an executive’s day-to-day office environment stays secure without feeling like a fortress.
Armed Executive Protection
Armed Executive Protection pairs trained close-protection agents, each carrying an unrestricted Massachusetts License to Carry, with a principal facing an elevated threat level. It adds a visible and practical deterrent and response capability beyond standard unarmed protection, while agents are trained to de-escalate whenever possible and use force only as an absolute last resort.
Our armed agents are seasoned agents, and every one carries an unrestricted Massachusetts License to Carry. We assess whether an armed posture is actually warranted during our initial risk assessment — we don’t default to it, because the right level of protection is the one that matches your actual threat profile, not the most visible option.
Covert & Low-Profile Executive Protection
Covert Executive Protection keeps agents low-profile — plainclothes, unmarked vehicles, and unobtrusive positioning — for principals who need real coverage without a visible security presence. This is common for public figures who want to maintain a normal-looking routine, or for situations where an obvious security detail could itself draw unwanted attention.
Our plainclothes operatives are trained in surveillance detection, identifying suspicious behavior or tracking attempts at a distance before they escalate into a close-proximity encounter, so protection happens quietly and proactively rather than reactively.
What to Ask Before You Hire an Executive Protection Team
An executive protection detail puts someone close to you, your family or your leadership every day, so ask any company you are considering the same questions. Here is how Hub answers them:
- Are you licensed? Hub operates under Massachusetts Private Detective Firm License #LP0203L, held since 2004, which covers both security and private investigation work.
- Who will be with the principal? Every agent is run through a background check and vetted before an assignment. Our agents are trained in defensive driving, surveillance detection, First Aid and CPR.
- Are your armed agents licensed to carry? Every armed agent carries an unrestricted Massachusetts License to Carry.
- What insurance do you carry? $3 million in general liability.
- Who is behind the company? Hub was founded in 2004 by police officers who remain with the company as consultants, and our leadership has over 75 years of combined experience.
- How is the detail planned? We walk the locations first and write post orders around the principal’s real schedule, so every agent on every shift works from the same plan.
- Who answers if plans change at night? Our dispatch line, (617) 857-1200, is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Massachusetts Rules That Shape an Armed Detail
The company providing the detail needs a security agent license, applied for through the Massachusetts State Police Certification Unit with a $5,000 surety bond that must stay active for as long as the company is licensed. Each armed agent needs a License to Carry, reviewed by a local licensing authority.
Where an agent can carry also matters. Chapter 135 of the Acts of 2024, the state’s 2024 firearms law, prohibits carrying firearms in government buildings, polling locations and schools, with certain exceptions. If a principal’s schedule includes a stop at one of those places, it needs to be planned for in advance.
Advance Work & Protective Planning
Every engagement above is built on the same foundation: advance work and route or venue planning completed before the principal arrives. Our team conducts site surveys, maps primary and secondary evacuation routes, identifies the nearest trauma facility, and documents the plan in writing so it survives a change in personnel or schedule.
This planning layer is what separates a professional protective detail from simply assigning a guard to follow someone around — it’s the difference between reacting to a problem and having already accounted for it.
Why Massachusetts Chooses Hub
Hub is a licensed Massachusetts Private Security and Detective Agency, led by senior management with over 75 years of combined experience in law enforcement, loss prevention, and private investigations. Every protective detail is built around your specific risk profile rather than a one-size-fits-all template, with direct access to the consultant who designed your plan — not a call center.
