Security Guard Services Across Massachusetts

Hub’s security guard services put a trained, uniformed officer on site at your property, event, or jobsite — armed or unarmed, overnight or around the clock. Clients range from retail plazas and apartment communities to construction sites, corporate offices, and one-time events.

Unlike most states, Massachusetts licenses security guard services at the agency level rather than certifying each individual guard. Hub holds that license (Watch, Guard, or Patrol Agency License, issued by the Massachusetts State Police Certification Unit, License #LP0203L), which means we carry the state-required surety bond and are directly accountable for every officer we place.

What Our Security Guard Services Cover

Every assignment starts with a site walk-through so the post orders match your actual risks, not a boilerplate checklist. From there, our security guard services typically include:

  • ✓Armed or unarmed uniformed officers, scheduled for single shifts or 24/7 coverage
  • ✓Access control, visitor screening, and perimeter checks
  • ✓Written post orders and time-stamped incident and activity reports
  • ✓Direct coordination with local police and fire for emergencies
  • ✓A dedicated supervisor who checks in on every post, not just a dispatcher

Armed vs. Unarmed Guards

Most of our security guard services are staffed unarmed — the right fit for retail, residential, and office environments where visible deterrence and fast, clear reporting matter more than a weapon.

When a site’s risk profile calls for an armed officer, that guard must individually hold a Massachusetts License to Carry (LTC) in addition to working for a licensed agency. We only place armed officers who meet both requirements, and we’ll tell you honestly if your situation doesn’t actually need one — an unarmed, well-trained officer is the right call for the large majority of the properties we cover.

Common Questions About Our Security Guard Services

What’s the minimum shift length? Most posts run a standard 8 or 12-hour shift. We can also staff one-time events and short-notice coverage — ask when you request a quote.

Are your officers employees or subcontractors? Directly employed, trained, and supervised by Hub — not a subcontracted staffing pool, so accountability stays with one agency, ours.

Can you cover a single weekend event? Yes. Event-based security guard services are common for us — see our dedicated Event Security Services page for details on crowd-focused staffing.

How Hub Staffs a Security Guard Program

Professional security guard staffing starts with the client’s actual risk and site, not a one-size-fits-all post — a property might need a single unarmed officer at a front desk, a rotating patrol across a larger campus, or a mixed armed and unarmed team depending on what’s actually there to protect. Every post gets written post orders specific to the site: what to check, how often, what to log, and when to escalate to a supervisor or call police. Supervisors conduct unannounced site checks and officers submit activity reports the client can actually read, not just a signature sheet. All guards placed hold current Massachusetts credentials, and armed officers individually hold a Massachusetts License to Carry on top of the agency’s own watch guard licensing. The program is built to flex as the client’s needs change — adding hours for a specific event, reducing coverage once a risk passes, or adjusting post orders after an incident.
